On September 24, 2023, I made a decision that would change the trajectory of my life forever: to apply to JuniFEUP, the Junior Enterprise of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. At that time, the concept of a Junior Enterprise was something distant, almost abstract to me, and the Portuguese Junior Movement something even more complex and unknown. Little did I know that I was about to embark on a journey that would challenge me professionally and personally, but, above all, would teach me the enormous impact that a small group of extraordinary young people can have on the world.

The recruitment process was intense, full of challenges that made me question my capabilities, but, at the same time, revealed an inner strength that I was unaware of. In my first year at this new institution, I had the opportunity to participate in several events with the Junior Entrepreneurs network. Little by little, I realized that my work went far beyond the Junior Company where I was involved. Every task I completed, every project I helped implement, contributed to the success of 24 other Junior Enterprises in Portugal. My work and determination impacted more than 1,500 students across the country and, in an even more ambitious plan, raised the value of a global network of more than 80,000 Junior Entrepreneurs.

This mindset changed everything for me. With a sense of purpose, I made the decision to apply to be the Manager of the Portuguese confederation of Junior Enterprises, Junior Enterprises Portugal.

As Communications Manager, I found the opportunity to give voice to this extraordinary network. Over the past year, I have reinvented the federation’s website, bringing our value message closer to our stakeholders and the community. I worked with an inspiring team, which took the mission of the Portuguese Junior Movement to the mass media, increasing the visibility of the network's projects and ideas.

But the most transformative thing was getting to know and coming into daily contact with the reality of other Junior Entrepreneurs spread across the country. Each with a unique perspective and infectious enthusiasm. Despite the diversity of views, we all have a common desire to leave our mark on the Portuguese entrepreneurial fabric, promoting innovation in the country and its economic growth, in an inclusive and sustainable way. Realizing that we all had this joint mission made me certain that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

Today, looking back, I realize the true meaning of the Portuguese Junior Movement. This is not just about learning or growing professionally, it is about creating impact, inspiring our community and about building a country where dreams and ideas become reality.

So I say with conviction, Junior Entrepreneurs are leading the way.
